Yellow Line makes Arenastaden even more easily accessible
Rail-bound transport is a requirement when Fabege develops new districts. Today, many people want to travel sustainably and not be dependent on a car. The Yellow Line in the metro system will run from the southern suburbs of Stockholm to Arenastaden.
“Linking the Yellow Line to the southbound Green Line is a major improvement. Odenplan won’t be the terminus; instead, it will be possible to travel all the way to Arenastaden from T-centralen, for example,” says Charlotte Liliegren, Property Development Director at Fabege.
Fabege invests SEK 100 million
Fabege was in on the negotiations with the City of Solna regarding the metro at an early stage. The company is also one of the first property owners that co-financed the new metro, investing SEK 100 million.
“Rail-bound transport is incredibly important for office employees and residents. We’re seeing a clear trend – the car is increasingly becoming subordinate to other means of transport,” says Charlotte.
Proposals for new station location
The construction of the Yellow Line will begin in 2018, and a proposal for a new station location means that there will be less disruption for residents and office employees compared to a previous proposal. The proposal involves the station having two exits – one onto Dalvägen and one towards Hagalund.
“Moving the station means that there will be fewer disruptions in the area as works on Frösundaleden, poor soil conditions and collisions with existing buildings can all be avoided. A further change will be that the metro will be closer to ground level, which means that making your way down to the trains will be quick and easy,” says Charlotte.
Yellow Line reduces public transport network vulnerability
The stretch of metro line has been called into question by some people who think that the commuter train that runs from Solna station is sufficient.
“There’ll be even more people active in the area in future, and the metro makes the area less vulnerable for those wishing to travel to and from Friends Arena or Mall of Scandinavia, for example,” says Charlotte.
