Fabege bestowed with Green Building Award by European Commission’s Joint Research Centre

The prize, in the “new builds” category, is to be awarded to Fabege because of its work on the Uarda 5 property, Vattenfall’s new head office in Arenastaden. Using innovative and well-conceived building materials, construction methods and operating solutions, Fabege and Vattenfall have jointly succeeded in reducing energy consumption to 64% below the level specified in the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s building regulations. The environmental and energy adaptations include a climate shell that satisfies the criteria for passive buildings, sedum roofing, electricity-generating solar cells, hot-water generating solar collectors, free cooling och energy-efficient lifts and light sources.

“We are delighted that our long-term focus on the environment is now also attracting international attention. This gives us extra momentum in our continued sustainability efforts,” says Klas Holmgren, Director of project and development at Fabege.
