Fabege commissions Skanska to build office in Hammarby Sjöstad

Fabege has commissioned Skanska to build the Hammarby Terrassen property, and the project will be run as a collaborative venture.

Towards the end of June, it was confirmed that the company Goodbye Kansas would be taking up residence in the Hammarby Terrassen property. The construction project was launched at the beginning of September this year, and work is currently being done to prepare the site and lay the foundations. Fabege has commissioned Skanska to build the office property as a collaborative contract.

- “It feels great and exciting to be working with Skanska, which has shown great enthusiasm and commitment to partnering with us on this project. Skanska is a cutting edge enterprise, working hard to reduce environmental impact, and placing great emphasis on occupational health and safety at its construction sites. Fabege is growing; several projects are under way and we are keen to team up with contractors who prioritise areas that are important to us, and who live up to our demanding standards,” says Klas Holmgren, Director of Projects and Development at Fabege.

Skanska is scheduled to commence construction in February 2018, and if everything goes according to plan, the building should be finished in summer 2019.

- “This is our first collaborative project with Fabege, and we’re sure it’ll be a great success because we share the same values – particularly in the field of sustainability. We’re looking forward to working with Fabege on the development of this modern, sustainable office complex. It’s positioned in an exciting development area, where we both have significant interests,” adds Bengt Staaff, Regional Manager, Skanska Sverige AB.

The office facility comprises around 5,200 sqm and the objective is to have it environmentally certified to BREEAM level “Very Good”. Goodbye Kansas will be the sole tenant in the building. The company is the fastest growing enterprise in Sweden in the field of animation, games and special effects, and the new premises will contain facilities including a film recording studio. Goodbye Kansas plans to move into the building in June 2019.
