The New Carnegie Brewery in Stockholm will be a new tenant at Luma in Hammarby Sjöstad.

Three committed parties – Carlsberg Sverige, D. Carnegie & Co. and Brooklyn Brewery – are to jointly build the New Carnegie Brewery and occupancy of the factory is scheduled for late 2013.

Luma is a building with a unique history. The property was remodelled as a lamp factory in the 1930s, following a design by the architects Artur von Schmalensee and Eskil Sundahl. Since then, the exterior has been classed as a historical monument, as Luma is regarded as one of the principal functionalist buildings in Stockholm.

“No other building suits us as well as Luma and Hammarby Sjöstad is also perfect as a city district. The New Carnegie Brewery will be so much more than just a brewery. It will be a meeting place, a restaurant and a beer academy, situated in Strandhusen in Hammarby Sjöstad,” says Joakim Losin, MD of The New Carnegie Brewery.

Fabege is currently developing and customising the premises to facilitate the moving-in of the brewery at the end of the year when production will start.

“The fact that the New Carnegie Brewery has decided to move in and become a part of the new city district makes us very proud.
