New Pep Park in Arenastaden

The new Pep Park in Arenastaden, which was completed in October, is now officially open. The park is the result of a collaboration between the City of Solna, Fabege and Generation Pep, an organisation created on the initiative of the Crown Princess Couple.

“The purpose of the Pep Park concept is to provide a place for children, young people and adults to get active in a setting that encourages both play and physical fitness. Unlike Solna’s, and Sweden’s, first Pep Park in Huvudsta, ‘100 Metre Pep’, the park was created in a busy urban area, close to the Friends Arena and Mall of Scandinavia. The Pep Park brings increased vitality to the Arenastaden district, and is somewhere residents and visitors of all ages can both play and exercise every day, all year round,” says Pehr Granfalk, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board for the City of Solna.

“We’ve found an ideal site for the next Pep Park close to the Friends Arena. It’s a place where everyday exercise and elite sport can come together and it’s easily accessible for people living in Arenastaden and the millions of visitors to Mall of Scandinavia,” explains Stefan Dahlbo, President and CEO of Fabege.

“Children and young people aren’t getting enough exercise, so society needs to find ways of creating more opportunities for children to be physically active. Pep Park is a great example, where children can challenge themselves, try new things, but also combine play and movement in a natural way. Pep Park in Huvudsta has been popular and I hope and believe this park in Arenastaden will also attract lots of children, young people and adults,” says Carolina Klüft, Director of Operations at Generation Pep.

Activities for all ages

Pep Park in Arenastaden set itself the challenge of converting a tarmacked area into a space that provides inspiration for both play and movement, as well as training and exercise. The new park has painted areas on the ground featuring pixel graphics and perspective that creates fun 3D effects and encourages visitors of all ages to get active. The park was completed in October 2020.

A collaboration between the City of Solna, Fabege and Generation Pep

Solna’s Pep Parks are a collaboration between the City of Solna, Fabege and Generation Pep, an organisation created on the initiative of the Crown Princess Couple. The parks are a pilot project aimed at developing a model for partnerships between municipalities and local business, which can be rolled out to other parts of the country. The first Pep Park was opened in Huvudsta in autumn 2019 in the presence of Prince Daniel. As well as the Arenastaden park, a Pep Park is also planned for Hagaparken.
