Kvarteret Poolen wins Solna Urban Environment Prize 2024

Located in Arenastaden in Solna, the Kvarteret Poolen development is a 3D property consisting of a ten-storey office building and a swimming pool. The property has innovative architecture that contributes to the overall experience and the urban space itself. The office block is certified to BREEAM rating Excellent.

Kvarteret Poolen was made possible by an innovative collaboration between all the parties involved, with Fabege and the City of Solna being the clients. The property has a distinctive look with its rounded corners and brickwork, and the swimming pool is clearly highlighted in the streetscape using glass sections in the facade.

The Solna Urban Environment Prize is presented annually by the municipal building committee for a building, facility or other project in Solna that has made a lasting improvement to the urban environment.

The City of Solna’s justification for awarding the prize to Kvarteret Poolen reads: “Kvarteret Poolen is an example of very high quality architecture with both beautiful volume and fine details. The area connects to its surroundings in an urban way. An innovative, three-dimensional mix creates new values for the city.”

The property has an ambitious sustainability profile, with climate-smart solutions and materials. For example, the building’s roof is covered in sedum plants and solar panels and uses the surplus heat from neighbouring ice rinks to heat the swimming pool.

Kvarteret Poolen also won Building of the Year 2023!
