Apoteket AB announces move to Stockholm's Fatburen building. Stages 1 and 2 now fully leased. The Swedish pharmacy chain Apoteket AB has leased approximately 7,500 square meters of office space for its head office in the Fatburen building, owned jointly by Atrium Fastigheter AB and Fabege AB (publ). Apoteket AB will move in on March 1, 2005 and has an eight-year lease on the space. The total rental value is SEK 149 M. "The Fatburen building gives us an economical alternative for our new head office," says Stefan Carlsson, President of Apoteket AB. "It also brings us closer to our key stakeholders such as the Federation of Swedish County Councils and the Swedish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry. We will be able to build Apoteket's future head office with a modern layout and design." Located centrally in the Södermalm section of the Swedish capital, Fatburen was originally an industrial property dating back to the 1930's. With the help of architect Gert Wingårdh, it has undergone a complete transformation to become one of Stockholm's most modern office buildings. Stages 1 and 2 of the extensive reconstruction comprise just over 46,000 sq. m. plus storage and garage space. Skatteverket Stockholm (the Swedish Tax Agency) moved into Fatburen at the start of 2004. Other recent tenants include Brann Patentbyrå, the Stockholm County Association of Local Authorities and the Stockholm County Council's offices for community medicine, regional planning and cultural affairs. All that remains of the Fatburen project is stage 3 - the renovation of the existing brick building at Magnus Ladulåsgatan 63. In addition, another 6,500 sq. m. of office space will be completed in a year.
