Pep Parks in Solna

An important collaboration

Solna’s Pep Parks are a collaboration between the City of Solna, Fabege and Generation Pep, an organisation created on the initiative of the Crown Princess Couple. The parks are a pilot project aimed at developing a model for partnerships between municipalities and local business, which can be rolled out to other parts of the country. The first Pep Park was officially opened in Huvudsta in autumn 2019 in the presence of Prince Daniel. Autumn 2020 sees the opening of the new colourful Pep Park in Arenastaden. A third park is planned for Hagaparken.

Pep Park Arenastaden

The latest Pep Park in Arenastaden set itself the challenge of converting a tarmacked area into a space that provides inspiration for play and movement as well as training and exercise. The new park has painted areas on the ground featuring pixel graphics and perspective that creates fun 3D effects and encourages visitors of all ages to get active. The park was officially opened in autumn 2020.

Early on in the project we liked the idea of painted areas on the asphalt and the concept of video game graphics. We wanted to bring the digital world, that a lot of young people spend so much time in, out into reality. We hope that by creating 3D effects depending on where you’re standing will make play even more fun than on the screen. Our aim was to create a park that fires the imagination of the people that go there.

Pep Park Huvudsta

On 1 September 2019 the first Pep Park in Sweden was officially opened, the first of three activity parks planned for Solna. ‘100 Meter Pep’ is a park featuring apparatus and equipment for play, movement and daily fitness for children, young people and adults to use together. A park with a difference.

The park includes apparatus and equipment that is adapted to different ages and abilities, and encourages both spontaneous and planned activity. The idea is for the range of equipment to develop movement, coordination and other physical skills, while the layout encourages play and recreation. For example, the park includes a trampoline, a balance beam, running track, outdoor stage and planted areas with edible fruit and berries. The park also functions as an outdoor gym for adults.
